Myself and friend took the lake booking for the 11 / 12 / 13 may and although not all of us caught we did end up with 7 fish between us including 3 pike to 15lb + . Geoff Wynn had the best result with 2 carp both going 20lb from the chimney swim. I fished the mile and had 2 carp and 2 pike. Biggest carp being 18lb 4oz and the pike topping 15lb +. Again all photos are available in the photo gallery sections.

We arrived at the lake early on Friday to find a couple of anglers still on the lake, We had a chat with a couple of the anglers on to find it had been a slow week. We waited until there time was up and headed round to our swims. Lee was only fishing the day then going home as he had plans however would be returning early Saturday for the rest of the session. Spending the day stalking Lee bagged a colossal looking mid double common as he wanted which was 18lb 8oz. The rest of the day was slow and the next action was at 3am Saturday morning when Shackers landed the smaller of the white tip commons at 13lb 6oz. Again the action remained slow and with the boiling hot weather alot of the guys were hovering around the pads watching and trying to stalk a take from one of the wary carp. 2pm and Shackers started to receive some line bite indication on the productive rod, Sitting on his hands around 14:30 the alarm blistered into life! I lifted into the fish and it boiled on the surface 20 yards to the left of the spot but I couldn’t see what it was. After taking more line I’m thinking this could be one of the resident sturgeon :/ following a hard fight in open water the fish hits the deck and slowly plodded towards my feet. I got the fish to the pads 8yards out then the fish powered back out some 15 / 20 yards! I got the fish back into the pads and I then see a huge tail of a carp surface! I can see it’s a BIG mirror and I’m thinking it could be the big one (but I don’t want to jinx it) the carp holds itself in the lilies for a few more minutes however it then rolls fully on the surface and my nervous hopes come true as I see a Large C shaped scale appear! The 5 lads stood around me all say the same and my legs start to shake! I carefully tease the carp towards the net and she hits the spreader Block! I stand over the net and look at this huge carp at my Feet and everyone screams… GET IN!! I then get everything sorted and weigh her at 33lb 4oz smashing my PB by 7lb! A few shots on the bank then using the great weather I get in to have a few more shots and release her! Later that day pete gets a take in Stumpy and plays the fish into find it was a nice double figured common which ended the spell of carp.

The lads are back on at the end of October for their final session of the year.

My own fishing on Fairview has usually been of a good standard although the last two sessions have not been that way. Leaving a 48 hr session as they started to spawn is one thing but then turning up in hurricane Fairview is another. After a battle to secure the bivvy under the chimney my old man set up in hooters whilst i sorted my rods out. A quick missed run from the pads towards the garden was the only event that happened until 7 o clock this morning when my dads middle rod, fished into open water at 40 yards ripped away and after a hell of a struggle with it twice locking up solid in the pads he landed a superb pb common of 22.8oz . After no sleep due to the wind it more than made up for it. I have put the picture online in the gallery.

A catch report from Paul Himself.

Just done a 48hr on summer bay arrived sunday afternoon, no signs of any fish all day and night. it was like a ghost town.on the monday my friend wayne arrived to do a bit of piking and to have a bit of a social. It wasnt till monday night at about 10pm i was just outside Irvs collecting our take away, when i arrived back wayne was into a fish on my rod so i let him crack on but he sliped and went head first in the lake, it was very funny havn’t laughed as much in ages. i took the rod off him and got the fish in a lovely mirror. just about to way the fish when i realised my scales were busted, i was gutted.defo over 20lb i reckon 24lb then at 3am i had a little common at about 8lb.then tues wayne had a nice pike. i then noticed alot of fish showing infront of the chimney following the wind. so i through 2 rods in there i was just about to pack up about 6ish then i had a screamer nice common of around 19 to 20lb i think you have had both these fish andy.
